Modernization of a GeN2 Elevator near Munich – Future-Proof Technology
Not every elevator needs to be replaced – sometimes a targeted, well-planned modernization is all it takes. A recent project near Munich demonstrates how efficient and standards-compliant such a solution can be.
The existing GeN2 system from OTIS was outdated and no longer met current safety standards. Especially with type-tested elevators, it is crucial during modernization to minimize structural changes – particularly to the machine frame. This is precisely where our solution came into play.

Custom-fit machines – no modifications to the machine frame required.
Using a specially developed replacement machine, we were able to swap out the old machine unit on a 1:1 basis – completely without modifications to the existing structure. A clear advantage for operators who rely on structural and regulatory safety.
Additionally, the elevator was equipped with a UCM-certified brake that meets the requirements of modern safety standards. New machine belts and a fully updated control unit completed the modernization package.
Result: Future-proof, efficient, and compliant.
The modernized system now operates more quietly and energy-efficiently, while fully complying with all current standards – all without major structural modifications. A successful example of sustainable elevator modernization, where technology, safety, and cost-effectiveness come together perfectly.
